Local traffic policy may be the traffic policy of the city in question, but we can only conclude that each city has drawn up its own rules and priorities for this and not always in consultation with all the sectors involved, such as the transport sector. For example, in some cities, making several deliveries per day to a pharmacy in the centre was no longer possible.
That is why EALTH, as an organization, will monitor everything that has to do with urban logistics at a European level and the regulations and initiatives that go with it, and we will not hesitate to take the initiatives needed. We think of the following topics with respect to urban logistics:
1. Last-Mile Delivery: The final step in the delivery process is transporting goods from a distribution centre or retailer to the end consumer.
2. Urban Warehousing: Small-scale storage facilities within cities that facilitate quicker distribution.
3. Reverse Logistics: Handling returns, recycling, and waste management in urban settings.
4. Technology Integration: Improve efficiency by using digital tools like route optimization software, GPS tracking, and IoT.
5. Multimodal Transport: Combining various modes of transport (e.g., bicycles, vans, and public transit) for efficient urban deliveries.
